Powering Members and Our Communities

Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative (MWEC) stands apart from traditional utilities because everything we do begins with the people we serve. We were built by the very communities we power, and your
needs and priorities shape the direction of our cooperative. As an independent, not-for-profit cooperative, we’re owned and guided by the people who rely on us every day, not outside shareholders or investors. That means every decision we make is focused on reliability, affordability and creating real value for our members. Your voice matters here, and that’s that truly sets MWEC apart.
As a new year begins and winter weather sets in, we know our members are counting on more electricity to keep their homes safe, warm and comfortable. That’s why everything we do is focused on you and delivering reliable energy when you need it most. We’ll continue strengthening our system and advocating for smart energy policies to ensure your home and community stay powered year-round.
Recently, we partnered with Williston Community Builders, providing space for the storage, packaging and distribution of 150 Thanksgiving meals. MWEC employees also rallied together to host a food drive in Stanley, New Town and Williston, allowing us to extend a helping hand during a time when our neighbors needed it most. neighbors is a powerful reminder of why we exist.
Last year, MWEC also implemented a volunteer time-off policy, encouraging all employees to give back in ways that are meaningful to them. In 2025, MWEC employees volunteered hours, supporting local youth, community organizations and other local initiatives in the communities they call home. We will continue to support these efforts, because our responsibility to lead
and support our communities is an important part of who we are.
One way our members are able to make a difference is through Operation Round Up, a program that allows you to round up your electric bill to support local causes. The average contribution per account is 50 cents per month or about $6 per year.
These funds are donated to local events, organizations and initiatives that make an impact where we live and work by a board of members and community representatives. It’s a simple way for members to help neighbors, strengthen our community and be part of something bigger, because when our members give back, our whole community benefits.
As the new year unfolds, we look forward to continuing these

partnerships and our community focused giving. Empowering members to give back strengthens the fabric of our communities just as it has since we were founded. And it will continue to guide us throughout the year. Together, we are building a stronger, reliable system and community for everyone.
