Call Before You Dig
Call Before You Dig is a free service that arranges for utility companies to mark utility locations underground prior to a digging project.
Hitting a buried utility line can cause injury or death, disrupt services, and result in costly repairs. North Dakota law requires you to call.
How do I use it?
- Call 811 at least 48 hours before you dig.

- Be prepared to provide the exact street address as well as details of the dig project.

- You may also sumit a request online through North Dakota One Call.
Who is responsible to make the call?
- The person doing the digging is responsible for contacting 811. That could be the homeowner, contractor or others.
What happens next?
- The utility company or companies will send a technician out to mark the location of their lines.

- There is no cost to you.

- Markings are valid for 21 days.
