Taste Come Naturally For Coffeeshop

What makes Siren Sips unique, according to owner Hannah Miars-Keillor, is what she doesn’t put into her coffees and teas: anything artificial.

That means no artificial caffeines, colors or preservatives. Instead, she uses all-natural ingredients and natural caffeine from coffee bean and green tea extracts.

“Everything tastes real,” Miars-Keillor says. “With coffee syrups with artificial flavors, you can taste the undertones.” The natural ingredients are “a lot more potent in flavor,” she says.

The natural caffeine also hits differently than the synthetic caffeine in some popular energy drinks.

“You know how you can get the jitters, then two hours later you crash?” Miars-Keillor says. “This is a whole different thing.”

The Energy Blaster, her most popular item, has 200 mg of natural caffeine. Rather than an artificial jolt, Miars-Keillor says, it’s refreshing.

Coffee has long been a passion for the new business owner. She got into holistic health and eventually “natural everything” after a difficult health care experience.

“I started noticing everything artificial in foods. I just didn’t want it,” she says. “It’s how I am in my home life. It’s not just for the business.”

Miars-Keillor is passionate about educating people who are interested, but she doesn’t preach.

“To each their own. I don’t force it on everyone,” she says.

She’s more interested in a light approach, and it shows in her business name.

“In mythology, the sirens lure the sailors to their death by singing,” Miars-Keillor says. “Instead, we lure our customers to eat healthier.”

At Siren Sips, breakfast sandwiches are made onsite with natural ingredients. Protein balls come from Jack & Juice and cookies are from Sweet Treats.

“I try to keep it local as much as I can,” she says.

For her “Local Focus” menu item, Miars-Keillor invites an area business owner to request a custom drink. For example, she came up with the “Bulldozer Boost” for 3 Forks, an oilfield service company.

“He said, ‘I want it to be orange, but I don’t want it to taste orange,’” she says.

Getting the business off the ground last June was a DIY effort with typical hiccups, but the power went on without a hitch.

“I tapped into electric on an existing property,”Miars-Keillor says. “We’ve had no problems.”

With her bright red hair and “mermaid siren vibe,” Miars-Keillor balances humor with a serious dedication to natural ingredients. Customers don’t have to wonder about what’s really in what Siren Sips serves.

“I’ve done the work for them,” she says.
