UPDATE: 10/7/2024 4:45p.m.
Throughout the day, more than 100 Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative staff, contractors and neighboring cooperatives came together to restore power to our members. Safety remains our top priority, as we assess and repair our electrical system.

  • 370 – Approximate number of poles damaged
  • 1759 – Services initially impacted
    • 315 services remain without power.

We aim to restore power to most members by the end of the week. Our hearts go out to our MWEC members and neighbors that lost so much.

UPDATE: 10/6/2024 5:45p.m.
Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative continues to respond to outages across our service area, prioritizing safety during restoration efforts.  

Estimates as of 10/6/2024 at 5:45p.m.:

  • 350 – Approximate number of poles damaged
  • 1759 – Services initially impacted
    • 334 services remain without power
    • Townships where services remain without power:
      • Winner, Athens, Dublin, Oliver, Wheelock, Champion, Equality, Golden Valley, West Bank, Pleasant Valley

Please note, this information will change as crews continue to assess damage and restore power to members.

For some MWEC members, where damage to the electrical system is more extensive, restoration times may take up to four days. If a generator is used during an outage, always keep generator safety in mind. More information on generator safety can be found here: Generator Safety

Mutual aid crews from neighboring cooperatives will assist us in restoration efforts beginning tomorrow October 7, 2024.

Williston, ND. – 
Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative (MWEC) continues to respond to damage to the electrical system. MWEC members in areas near the fires will be without power until crews are able to safely assess the damage and begin the repair process.

Currently the damage to the MWEC system and power restoration timeline is unknown.
